So I was watching VH1 tonight (not a great choice, but it beats out the evil MTV any day) and the show "The List" came on. Now there is not a whole lot to the show, and I probably would have just kept on channel surfing, if it had not been for the category of tonight show. The topic was: Best band or artist of the 90s. strangely enough, and I do give the people on this show some credit for these two additions, both the Dave Matthews Band and Radiohead were on this list.

Now these two artists are very close to my music-loving heart, and I even though I knew it all in vain, I was really hoping to see them make it onto the top three list at the end of the show. As expected, niether band made it onto the list, but what really shocked me was what they got beat out by. The top three artists of the 90's, according to VH1 viewers are as follows:

1. Dr. Dre
2. Nirvana
3. Pearl Jam

I am not going to begin to debate the musical achievements of Nirvana, or anything else like that, but honestly, how could those three bands, two of which are almost the same entity (god rest the almighty grunge sound), be the best that the previous decade had to offer musically? It is just sad to me...
