i went and saw "lost souls" the other day. i was kind of pessimistic about seeing it at first, but then again, im usually pretty picky about movies. anyways, it was actually a pretty decent movie, and minus a few minor aspects, it was very entertaining. the casting was pretty good-no fluff actors who couldn't act to save their lives, and overall the plot was good too. worth seven fifty? i would say yes, even if only for the great film work.

as i said, i think the most impressive aspect of the film was the way that the director utilized lighting and color techniques. the whole thing had a really gothic, for lack of a better word, feel to it. for instance, the entire film was done with mostly tones of black, white, gray, and brown. when they did use colors, only very muted tones and washes were used. the color red was only used twice to really make something stand out. the picture itself was also kind of grainy and texturized. that gave the whole thing an aged appeal. and in combination with the light/shadow tricks that were played, the result was fantastic.maybe it was just that i hadn't seen a truly decent movie in awhile, but i was thoroughly entertained by this one.
